Story at Work? In English In Spanish EnSpanglish
Long ago, I attended the AGM of the ODNOO as my friend Linda's guest. The theme was learning through the arts. There was drumming, there was comedy, and there was storytelling.
As we got ready to leave, Linda introduced me to a woman in a business suit.
"Oh, a storyteller," said the woman in the business suit. "We need you."
I smiled but thought, "What would the business world need storytellers for?"
To my smile, she smiled. And to my thought she said: "Business people are people too, you know. And we are hungry for humanity."
Her reply haunted me for years.
And time went by ...
This year, friend and fellow Ottawa StoryTeller Sherri Yazdani and I were invited to take Story to organizations. The first workshop we facilitated led to another ... and another ... and another ... and there's a waiting list at the doorstep of 2009. Not only for workshops.
Now, at work, organizationsare really thinking.
They are thinking Business Retreat.
They are thinking How to Keep Employees Happy.
They are thinking Creative De-Stressing on the Job.
They are thinking about planning Monthly Events toreward their hard-working staff.
You've got it. They are thinking Story. They are thinking Humanity.
Are you thinking of innovative wellness services, too? Think Story!
